The Iomega Prestige uses a USB 2.0 interface for fast data transfers with universal compatibility. I decided to buy the 1TB version when I started running out of room for storing virtual machine files on my 6+ year old desktop(which still works reasonably well). This external hd has more than enough space for me to store my VMware virtual machine files. Transfers are reasonably fast for a usb connection.
I did one time receive a delayed write error while downloading vmware package for a linux os, although it may have been as issue with my page file as I have write caching turned on. I did wish that it also offered an eSATA connection but I won't hold it against the product as it is already a great bargain.

I had purchased a smaller drive several years ago and was ready for a larger unit. I had also purchased a 1.0TB drive for my son. When this offer became available, I quickly called several of my associates for opinions and recommendations. All is good. The unit is exactly what I expected and is working fine.

I bought this product in December 2008 and last month (Feb 2010) doing a backup of all my computer the drive stopped working, i was getting the click of death, the drive stopped working and lost all my data.
Is incredible, this products are made just to survive the warranty period that is 1 year, total crap!

This product seems like it is made well. So far, it has worked great - even though my cat knocked it and another hard drive on the floor when he got tangled in the cords. The other drive actually died and this one kept on working.

The size is perfect - the way it sits on my counter is perfect - the way it works is fast and perfect and if I need more storage I'll purchase another one! It is so nice to finally have enough room for all my recorded TV shows and movies all in one spot. I like the way it has it's own power source and doesn't add that draw to my computer. As far as I am concerned it's the greatest thing since sliced bread - everyone should own at least one of them....oh...and Amazon.com delivered it fast no problem!
